Hello Class, My name is Joshua Berndtand I'm from Oshkosh, WI. The Army has finally chosen my last destination before I retire in South Carolina, so my family and I are transitioning to South Carolina as we speak.  I have been married for 14 years and have two beautiful children Hallee and Josh Jr; the degree program I have chosen is Education Studies.  The professional career in which I'm ultimately seeking after I retire from the military in four years is to become a principal or work in the administrative side of a school district. I have wanted to complete my BA for the longest time but over the last 16 years in the Army, I haven’t had the time to complete it.  I now have the time and am 6 classes from completing my BA. I look forward to meeting everyone and learning a lot over these next few years.  During this class I look forward to learning on how the brain actually functions, and in return this will hopefully allow me as a future educator to fully understand and allow me to be able to teach and assist my students to the best of my ability.

Hello Everyone, My name is Jonathan Rosado; I live in North Bergen, New Jersey, this is my final year hear in Ashford. I have had nothing but a great learning experience in this academic journey. I am currently in a recovery process after an auto accident, but my positive attitude has helped me get through it all. I am excited to take this course since I love and work with children and have two wonderful children of my own. I work for a company called CompCare Therapeutics and Innovative intervention Inc as a Developmental Interventionist for both. I hope to gain a better understanding of how the brain of a child works in the process of learning. I am sure there is a lot to learn in this course and i am excited to be a part of it. Early experiences affect the development of the brain architecture, which provides the foundation for all future learning, behavior, and health. Just as a weak foundation compromises the quality and strength of a house, adverse experiences early in life can impair brain architecture, with negative effects lasting into adulthood. With this said, every context of this course we definitely help each of us to develop a better understanding to help children utilizing the learning preference that works best for them. My goal is to be able to apply what i learn throughout this course in my career as an early educator. I hope to learn from everyones ideas i this course.

Hello fellow classmates, my name is Jorge Velez, I am 41 years old and I am from New Haven, Connecticut, but originally from Puerto Rico. I have been married to my beautiful wife for 14 years and have two awesome children, Ana Laura (14), and Jorge (12). I work for the head start department for the past 7 years as a Family Service Worker and this year I am being transferred to a new state of the art building that will service around 500 head start children, as a FSW my job lets me help low income families and provide them with resources they might need, I also provide help in the classrooms with the teachers, so I also get a chance to be with the children. I love working with people and I also love being in the classroom with the young ones, at the moment I am enrolled in Ashford trying to get my bachelors in Cognitive Studies, my goal is to become a social worker and continue working for head start. What I hope to gain from this course is knowledge on how people learn and what components in the brain helps us learn, and also the problems one may encounter in the learning process. I want to wish everyone of you good luck on the course and future studies. See you in the classroom!!!
