Explanation of who the sample is

Yegidis et al. (2018) define sample is a subset of cases selected for study from among people or objects within a defined population. It is a selected representation of the entire population. That is involved in a review.  On the case of the given study, the sample includes the low-income families in California which are obtaining the TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families); also known as CalWORKs in California. The sample, who are the recipients have choices of getting help to obtain an instant job, receiving the remedial education for those that were lacking necessary capabilities, and vocational training at the colleges available in the local community. For those looking to higher their level education and skills, they were enrolled in the adult education centers (Plummer, Makris & Brocksen, 2014).

Steps researchers took to ensure generalizability.

According to Plummer, Makris & Brocksen (2014), “generalizability is important in explanatory research, which attempts to identify relationships between variables within research samples and provide evidence that the same relationships exist beyond those samples.” In the study, generalizability was ensured by using large enough sample sizes that provided diversity and covered all aspects of the populations in California. Single mothers were represented in the sample, and there was a clear relationship present with single mothers and assistance in childcare services. Since the population of the study was quite high, there will be a wide range of results at the end of the study. Large sample size increases the reliability of the study in terms of generalization. It is more accurate to assume the characteristics and behavior of a population using a significant sample as compared to a small one.

This is the question

"In the study, generalizability was ensured by using large enough sample sizes that provided diversity and covered all aspects of the populations in California."

In what ways can we provide diversity in addition to a large sample size?
