Course Description:
Organizational Behavior (OB) is the study of the way people
interact within various groups including business enterprises,
educational institutions, and other social groups outside of the
workplace. Normally this study is applied in an attempt to better
understand people’s behavior to create more efficient business
organizations. The central idea of the study of organizational
behavior is that a scientific approach can be applied to the
management of workers. Organizational behavior theories are used
for human resource purposes to maximize the output from individual
group members. This course will cover the core areas of
organizational behavior through an exploration of theory and
research. Throughout this course, we will explore how research and
knowledge of OB topics can be applied to improve organizational
functioning. Course Objectives: • Gain a better understanding of
commitment and mutual accountability to a common purpose with
defined goals through working in teams. • Gain a better
understanding of emotional intelligence (EQ) and its influence on
the interaction between humans and their organizational
environment/s. • Gain an awareness of organizational behavior
issues, changing trends, and challenges managers face. Practice by
application of concepts, theories, and research approaches covered
throughout the course to real work problems and issues. • Evaluate
real world problems and issues to better understand organizational
behavior concepts.
