1. How much did the poster Destroy this Mad Brute rely on vilifying the German people? Do you think it was necessary?
The government depended heavily on the propaganda poster by spreading the depicted monster Germans copiously, for it was contrary to the neutral statement of President Wilson, who personally believe that the war will result in a stronger economy of the nation. Evidently, the poster Destroy this Mad Brute served its purpose for it enticed Americans to be upset, and loathed German citizens. However, in my opinion the government puts the inferior immigrant German nationals residing the country in a peculiar situation. That is probably the reason why I just partly believe that it was necessary, otherwise show more content
Knowing what you now know, how would you have voted on the Sedition Act of 1918 had you been a congressional representative? Please explain.
My knowledge is limited, but in my understanding of the Sedition Act of 1918 it is violating the clauses of the 1st amendments freedom of speech and to protest against the government. Therefore, I will not vote for the Sedition Act.
3. Why do you think the government promoted enlistment with the poster On Which Side of the Window Are You? Was there any correlation between elites and pacifism? Do you believe there was truth to the criticism of World War Iby some that it was a rich mans war, poor mans fight? Please explain.
To my understanding, the government opted for the promotion of enlistment through the poster on Which Side of the Window Are You? in relation to the positions of the elites and pacifists concerning the war. Hence, the imperialistic elites believed in dominance that the United States success, and security rely on the influence abroad. On the other hand, pacifists strongly opposed the war. Nevertheless, ordinary men do not desire to engage in the war, but they do not have a choice, but to submit to the governments call. On the contrary, the rich men had a way in exempting themselves on the enlistment. Thus, I believe that the elites are fighting a cause at the expense of the poor
